And many of our expectations are habits; that is, they reflect our habitual patterns of thought. We expect John to behave this way and Mary to behave that way. And, we get precisely the behavior we expect. Here’s the most interesting part—we completely miss a lot of what we’re not expecting. Most of us don’t walk around constantly being surprised by life.
It stands to reason, then, that it would be quite useful to be intentional about what we expect and the habits of thought associated with those expectations, because our habits of thought are the genesis of everything we have in our lives. Back CommentsAdd Comment |
